Migraine Headache Study Information ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Principal Investigator: Dr. Barnett Rosenberg Purpose
of the Study Find a more effective way to control migraine headaches using
extremely dilute solutions applied to the skin. Flexibility We wish to make participation possible for all interested parties.
We are flexible, and will work with potential subjects to facilitate their
involvement in the study. If you feel that there may be something that will
prevent your participation, please discuss alternative options with us. Some possible accommodations include
transportation, flexible appointment locations, and arrangements for
continued participation through extended absence (like vacations, family
emergencies etc.). Subject Qualification The potential subject must come to Barros for a qualification
interview. Proof of past or present
migraine diagnosis from a health care professional is required to receive
compensation. Examples of proof are a signed doctor's or nurse's note on
letterhead/ prescription pad, or a discharge sheet from an emergency room,
urgent care clinic, or doctor's office that states the diagnosis. A
prescription label from a migraine-specific medication can be used as
temporary proof to begin participation until adequate proof can be presented.
This proof must be presented within one month to continue with the study.
Subjects may continue current treatments and therapies throughout the study. Elements of the Study The time involved is approximately 1 hour/ week. Subject is
required to keep a study journal, in which key pieces of information will be
logged. In order to receive
compensation, a completed study journal must be presented, and all
appointments must be attended, unless prior arrangements have been made. Study begins with a qualification interview
at Barros which will last approximately 20 minutes. Time involved during the
Introductory Period: One week
consisting of up to three 20 minute visits to Barros (please ask about
possible arrangements). Visits will include the application of the solution, and instruction
on self-application. Time involved after the Introductory Period:
Applications will be done by the subject at home, with one interview session
per week. Please ask about possible accommodations for interview location. Other Notes There are no charges to participate in the study. All materials
necessary for this study will be provided by Barros Research Institute. This
includes journal materials, and materials for self-applications. E-mail
appointment reminders are available for convenience. Please
contact us with any questions, or to schedule a qualification interview. Preferred
interview times are Monday through Friday, 1:30 - 5:00 pm. Other
arrangements can be made if necessary. |
